At the park

There’s a park in downtown Fairbanks that has some walking trails along the Chena river. We took the kids down there one afternoon.

Creamer’s Field

There’s a field here in Fairbanks that they’ve set aside to function as a bird sanctuary. It was a little too wet for us to hike the trails but the kids enjoyed it nonetheless.

Her first real bike

Eric and I decided that it was time for Lorelai to have her own REAL bike. We decided to go to Eielson first and they only had 2 bikes. They were cute but had a lot of wear and tear on them, like they had been used and then returned, so we decided to wait.

And a little video… Test Ride

We decided to head to Walmart since they had closed out a huge section of their parking lot just to display bikes, but alas when we got there they had NOTHING so we drove over to Fred Meyer and THEY had nothing. It was ridiculous! So as we’re walking around I noticed a large pallet of boxes and as we get closer I notice the picture- a pink toddler bike with training wheels! YIPPIE! So we threw it in the cart and zoomed home to put it together and let Lorelai have her first ride.

Sorry for the mess, it gets ten times worse than that during the day when the kids are upstairs playing.

LORELAI IS THREE!!

My sweet little baby turned 3 years old on the 17th of April this year. We had decided to do small family gatherings for the odd birthdays and big bashes for the evens. Her first birthday was just the three of us in Garmisch Germany. Her second was the carnival/circus party at Rucker and this was just going to be a small family day here in Alaska. All she wanted was “a little table and two chairs” and “an orangish birthday cake.” We decorated the house with orange streamers (her favorite color) and when she woke up that morning she was very happy but as the day wore on she got a little melancholy. I asked if she was having a good birthday and she said “yes mommy… but where are my presents?” It was so heartbreaking! I told her we had to wait until Daddy got home. Once Daddy did get home we gave her the table and chairs and she was instantly happy again!

After cake we decided we needed to do something just a little special, so we took her out to dinner. Ever since we moved here, every time we drive past the Chili’s she asks to eat there. We don’t even know how she knew it was a restaurant! So that’s where we took her. She was pretty happy.

California

We got to spend a few days with family while we were in California. The kids got to play with their cousins Sierra and Haley and Griffin got to meet Grammy Anita and Grampa Joe for the first time. We stayed at my mom’s house and the kids loved hearing the trains go by and playing with the kitties. It was a nice stay but could’ve been a little longer.

In case you couldn’t tell, I just fell in love with Haley. She was seriously the sweetest little thing and I offered to take her off Paul and Lisa’s hands but I guess they like her. 🙂 She’s just too cute.

We couldn’t leave without getting some tats at Sacred Art and here they are. Mine is a compass rose to represent my constant travelling. I did black for me and “apple red” for Grams, who would’ve hated it.

And Eric’s, which is pretty self explanatory. He was going to get the Griffin tattoo fixed up but decided it was more important that Lorelai have her own tattoo. I came up with the idea!!
